About us
Sproutie is a small, one-person business which (with help from many friends and family) is run in Narrm/Melbourne. We exist to help you grow your own food at home, because nothing tastes better than something you grew yourself! At the moment we are focused on supplies and seeds to help you grow sprouts and microgreens at home. We will also support you with gardening and cooking tips to take advantage of whatever space you have to grow. |
Values
Protecting the environment is at the forefront of Sproutie's mission. We encourage you to grow your own food, choose environmentally friendly options and challenge the systems that are destroying the planet. Paper is one of the biggest causes of deforestation in Australia. With the devastating bushfires we saw in the last year, we simply cannot afford to lose any more of our beautiful bush. We have partnered with an Australian based paper company who is as passionate about the environment as we are. They make our paper, seed packets and envelopes with 100% post-consumer recycled paper pulp. We are always looking for ways to lobby the government or other businesses, invest in community projects, and minimise our own impact. If you have any ideas, please get in touch with us at |

Hi, I'm Suzannah. I love cooking and gardening. I hold a Permaculture Design Certificate and am always learning. I started Sproutie to bring some light (and veggies) to a hard year. At the beginning of 2020, I was exhausted after watching from afar as fire tore through my hometown, friends houses and our family property. I quit my job of eight years. As grateful as I was for the experiences I had at this workplace, it was time to follow my dreams. I enrolled in the Master of Urban Horticulture at Melbourne Uni. Of course, 2020 wasn't done throwing spanners in the works. |
During the first lockdown, I dabbled in lots of cooking and other projects. My dad taught me how to grow sprouts as a kid, and with the extra time at home, I rekindled this as an "isolation hobby". I also started growing microgreens during this time and was delighted by their look and taste. I wanted to share this hobby with my family and friends, so I thought of sending out seeds each month so we could sprout along together. Thus, Sproutie was born. I'm now back at uni and can't wait to share all the gardening and cooking tips I have with you all. |
